Sweet Matcha Simple Syrup
In college, my best friend Anna and I would always go to this cute local coffee shop to study (shoutout Foxtail, all my Orlando peeps know what’s up!!) Both of us would always order the same thing: an iced matcha latte. It was SO good; just sweet enough, a hint of vanilla, perfectly creamy, and always consistent. When we moved away from Orlando, we always talked about how much we missed those lattes, so Anna and her mom decided to recreate the Foxtail matcha at home! And now, thanks to them, I’m sharing it all with you.
This is super easy, and it makes enough for you to have a couple batches in your fridge so you can drink it throughout the week! It’s exactly what it sounds like: a matcha simple syrup. So, you make the syrup, and then just add your favorite milk! (My personal fave is oat milk.) If your matcha is already sweetened, I would reduce the amount of sugar in this recipe by half. If it’s not, carry on.
Sweet Matcha Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3-4 tbsp matcha
-
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. add 1 cup of sugar and stir until dissolved. Turn off the heat and let cool.
-
Add the vanilla and matcha to sugar & water mixture and whisk together.
-
Strain the mixture. Add about 1/4 cup of the syrup to a glass (more or less- however strong you like your latte!) add ice, and pour in your milk.
