Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
Stay stocked up on homemade pumpkin pie spice all season long while saving money at the same time!
Why should I make homemade pumpkin pie spice instead of buying it from the store?
The short answer? It saves you money! Why buy the teeny tiny jar of pumpkin pie spice for $4 when it literally only has, like, 3 tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice in it?!
It’s way more cost effective to buy the individual spices and mix them yourself. You’ll get way more pumpkin pie spice because you can make it multiple times if you have all the spices! (read: MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!)
And if you’re like me, you’re going to go through a lot of pumpkin spice this season. Call me basic, I don’t care.
I also love making this DIY pumpkin spice because I think it tastes better than the pre-made one you buy at the store. Mine is heavy on the cinnamon, yet still balanced with the other warm spices like nutmeg and cloves. I also find that it tastes fresher.
What spices do I need?
Here’s the good news: you probably already have a few of these spices, if not all of them! You’ll need:
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Ginger
- Allspice
- Cloves
All you have to do is measure out the spices and combine them using a whisk!
