Amaretto Affogato
An amaretto affogato is a super easy way to treat yourself to a little booze and dessert, all at once! It's the perfect after dinner drink, dessert, or Friday night treat.
What is an affogato?
Affogato means “drowned” in Italian- an appropriate name, since the coffee literally drowns the ice cream in an affogato! The hot coffee melts the ice cream, making a thick, foamy, and creamy dessert drink.
What is amaretto?
Okay, let me start by saying that amaretto is my absolute favorite liqueur! It can be made with almonds, apricots, or sometimes both.
Amaretto tastes like almond and is nutty, toasty, and bittersweet. Think maraschino cherry flavor but not as sweet.
This liqueur pairs well with so many things, but my favorite is when it’s used in coffee drinks like this one!

Want to take this affogato to the next level? Add some caramel to the bottom of your glass or on top of the ice cream. The caramel compliments the sweet, nutty notes of the amaretto so well- you will love it!
